Last year is a special one, since we were celebrate 30 years of Adobe Illustrator. During the Graphic Design Adobe Live Stream that I have been invited, I designed a poster for this special anniversary.
Inspired by the way in which we flip the pages of a book, representing the past, the present and the future, a three dimensional paper sculpture has been created and used as a guide for the design. It depicts the number “30”, a horizontally symmetrical number, standing for the 30 years of Adobe Illustrator.
Why do you deserve to win?
I am proud of this piece because I challenged myself to create something new, something that I never tried before. It gave me this opportunity to experiment and challenge my limits and find an effective way to communicate the message from this really broad brief, “30 Years of Adobe Illustrator”, in a really short timeframe, 3 days, 2 hours a day, live on the Adobe livestream.
The feedback I received was really positive, people where really impressed by the way in which I approached the brief in order to communicate the message, the technique that I decided to use and the visual outcome. The viewers at the stream where really excited to watch this quite unique procedure of work, blending the physical and the digital world, and discover all their possibilities. The poster was so successful that Adobe decided to print a limited edition of the poster for the winners of the livestream.
From my point of view, the simple straight forward, but effective, communication and design, in combination with the unique techniques that have been used as part of the design process, are what make this project successful.
