This self-initiated piece of work is all about contrast. Rough brush strokes versus crisp graphic lines. Soft pastels against fiery red. It is a little abstract, yet highly suggestive. It all started with a pencil drawing. From that first draft I made a line drawing with ink, leaving out some of the original lines to make place for what was to come. As a final step I edited the image digitally. The black ink became red, and I added the coloured fields in the background. That really made it all come to life.

This piece of work embodies my growth, both artistically and personally. I have been a freelance illustrator for less than a year now, and my style has developed a lot, becoming more outspoken and a bit more abstract. At the same time I have become bolder too. I have learned to believe in myself as a professional, and I am not afraid to express myself. This piece has attracted buyers of my personal work and I am now preparing my first exhibition.
